TRAVEL WITH PETS:

To travel with your pet, the procedures in Venezuela are done through the National Institute of Integral Health (INSAI).

Sanitary requirements for the mobilization of pets (Dogs and Cats):

NATIONAL TRIPS:

Carton of vaccines containing immunizations against:

Dogs : Sixfold Canine (Parvovirus – Coronavirus Hepatitis – Distemper or canine distemper – Leptospira for influenza)

Cats : Triple Feline (Calicivirus – Panleucopenia Rinotraqueitis)

Dogs and Cats : Antirrábica

For both species, you must also present National Antirrábico Certificate issued by a private veterinarian.

Bring all these documents to Insai Caracas to Request the Permission to Export Dogs or Cats, fill out the application forms for the same (they deliver it at the box office of INSAI Caracas), you must make a deposit of the corresponding fee to enter the application.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS FOR PET EXPORTS:

1. Original and Copy of Vaccination Certificate in force, issued by a veterinarian registered with INSAI, stating the application of Triple (Canine-Feline) vaccine and Anti-Rabies vaccine for a period of not more than one year.

2. Original and Copy of National Immunization Certificate in force, issued by a registered veterinarian before INSAI, with a period of no more than one year.

3. Original and copy of current International Health Certificate, issued by a veterinarian registered with INSAI, stating that the specimen to be exported was subjected to an evaluation and that, at the time of the examination, there were no signs or symptoms of any Infectious disease contagious.

4. Original and Copy of Evidence of Internal and External Deworming, issued by a veterinarian registered with INSAI, containing the complete identification of the product used and the date of application of the same.

5. Pets traveling to countries of the European Union and England, must have a microchip of identification of 12 to 15 digits and the examination of NEUTRALIZING ANTIBODIES OF RABIES. This examination is done in USA, Spain and France. The applicant of this service must consign Original and Copy of the indicated test and the document stating that the pet has the identification microchip. This test can last approximately 15 to 21 days to give the result.

6. Pets less than three months old can not travel to any country of the European Union, nor to England; This because canines and felines under three (03) months of age are not vaccinated against rabies.

7. Export permits for pets destined to Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Trinidad and Tobago will only be issued ONLY AND ONLY for those pets whose owners will reside in these islands, as it is established in its sanitary laws. To do this, they must register Original and Copy of the ENTRY PERMIT FOR THE MASCOT AS A RESIDENT, which must request through the corresponding embassies. If the pet owner travels as a tourist, the permit will not be issued for the reasons stated above.

8. A period of eight (10 business days) is specified for the issuance of the permit.

9. The request for permission can be made by the user or a person duly authorized in writing by the owner or person who is traveling with the pet.

10. The permit will be issued in the name of the person with whom the pet travels.

11. The INSAI will authorize the issuance of the permit after the review of the documents consigned by the interested party, to the technical staff of the Directorate of Integral Animal Health – INSAI. In case of any irregularity in them, the person or user who requested the service will be notified immediately to make the corrections of the case. At the time of making the request, place a contact phone number of the user.

NOTE: Each pet for domestic or international travel must go in a new or used kennel (cage), in good condition, washed and disinfected. The personnel of the INSAI and personnel of the transport company will inspect the kennel. The mascot will be in air cargo or inside the plane according to own specifications of each transport company.

The guide dogs have preferential treatment because they are company of blind people, in this case resolve with the transport company.
